Is There Any Chance Of Transmitting Hyperthyroidism To My Baby?
hello doctor, Recently I delivered my second issue who is 10 months now. Epilepsy was diagnosed in my elder son at the age of 5 (who is now 9y) and I (31y) have been suffering from hyper thyroid from past 4 years so, are there any chances of the diseases being transmitted to the little one.?
Good day, Noted your concern. If you had auto immune hyperthyroidism ( grave's disease), there is a possibiity of transferring the antibodies to baby via placenta. This may cause fetal hyperthyroidism. There is also a possibiity of auto immune thyroid disease in the future. But please relax, if the baby is growing well , not to worry. Please mention to your pediatrician about your medical history, so that he will keep looking for thyroid illness in child Regards Binu
