Hello and welcome to HCM,
The hemoglobin level of 7.8 is low and suggests anemia.
Anemia in a middle aged or elderly male has to be investigated.
A stool test for occult test has to be done.
A positive test is an indication for lower gastrointestinal endoscopy or colonoscopy.
As you have mentioned that stool test for blood is negative some other cause has to be found out for positive blood test.

Besides hemoglobin, the total leukocyte and platelet count is also reduced.
Thus, there is pancytopenia.
Pancytopenia is reduction in all three cell lineage of blood cells.
This is seen in bone marrow depression.
So the next step is to get bone marrow aspiration done to look at the status of the precursors of bone marrow.
Consult your doctor with report for further investigations and thus treatment.

Thanksa nd take care
