Is There Any Issue To Air Travel With Diagnosed Enlarged Adenoids?
My 4 almost 5 year old son has been diagnosed with enlarged adenoids and surgery has been recommended. We fly to South america (high altitude) country 2 months, if we cannot get surgery before leaving, will the high altitude affect him....and if we do get surgery before, it is ok to fly after surgery. Please help?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi dear.Your kid might experience blockade of the wind pipe due to which he might have severe ear pain. This becomes severe especially during take off and during his flight. He has to constantly chew candy/toffees or have sips of water to minimise this.Following surgery he may fly once it heals locally and definitely not a concern.Hope this helps. All the best.
