Is There Any Long Term Side Effect Of Taking Armour Thyroid Medication?
I am on Armour Thyroid medication, 0.5 Gr, one per day. I am pretty sure I took a 5.0 Gr Armour Thyroid pill for 30 days. Are there any known long term side effects for taking the wrong Gr. Is there any type of testing that should be done to see if I have any internal damages. I just want to make sure that I monitor myself correctly during my semi annual visits to my nurse practitioner.
Hi! Welcome to HCM! signs of overmedication with thyroid hormone replacement are often similar to the symptoms of hyperthyroidism, like anxiety, difficulty sleeping, elevated pulse, diarrhea, muscle aches and weakness, hair loss, fatigue, irrtations or sensitivity in eyes or neck area. You must get.thyroid blood test done and results will tell if you are getting too much medicine. In some people, TSH levels will be low and T3T4 high due to overmedication. Hope this helps!
