Hi Doreen,
Welcome to HCM - sad to hear about your pain,
Neurontin is the trade name of the molecule - gabapentin.
Its often used to treat nerve pain conditions (such as
diabetic neuropathy,
peripheral neuropathy,
trigeminal neuralgia) and
restless legs syndrome.
In some cases its used for Acute Pain Following an Operation.
Are you by any chance suffering from Diabetes ?
Gabapentin may cause Drowsiness, dizziness, loss of coordination, tiredness, blurred/double vision, unusual eye movements, or shaking (tremor) may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that your doctor has decided to prescribe this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
I have used Gabapentin for
Neuropathic pain on several patients but never had
any issue and most of the patients using this medication usually do not have serious side effects. But its important to consult your doctor if you if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: swelling of the hands/ankles/feet, signs of infection (such as fever, cough, persistent sore throat).
