Is There Any Surgery For Myopia?

I was diagnosed with high myopia when I was 3. From that age to 8 years old I have seen many doctors and had lots eye exercices 3 hours of week. In order to work I've wear over the years contact lenses (at work) and glasses at home. I'm 60 now and I started presbya. My eyesigh is -23 and -26. Is there an operation to fix this once and for all. I'm starting to have a hard time to wear contact lenses.

Thanks in advance for your reply!

hello Lise-Marie
Taking into account your age and your refractive error, the best surgical option for you would be lens extraction and IOL implantation. After surgery you'll not need glasses to see distant objects, but will need them for near work. However by customising the power of implanted lens this need of glasses can also be circumvented. You'll need to consult your operating surgeon about this.
But before undergoing any surgery on your eye, always ensure to undergo peripheral screening of your retina to rule out any lesions.
