Is This Something Neurological Or Vascular ?

I was biten by a stray cat on Thursday of last week. I had it picked up by Animal Control on Saturday and quarantined. Today, I suddenly experienced pain in the back of my head , pain in my right eye, pain in my right leg and the acute, sudden appearance of a black blob/box in the middle of my visual field. I also felt weak all over, my chest felt heavy and I felt a vague blah feeling all throughout my hands, arms and shoulders (I was bitten on the left hand and all these symptoms seemed to have arisen in the right side of my body). The doctor at the ER was sufficiently concerned to order a CAT scan . It turned out normal. However, he cautioned me to keep on eye on things and to check back with Animal Control to see how the cat is doing (thus far, after nearly 4 days in quarantine, animal control has not contacted me in any way). I am taking antibiotics as prescribed ( Amoxicillin ) and received a Tetanus injection the same day as my cat bite. The cat normally doesn t bite. BP was 150/98. I m 29. Paul The black/blob was only there briefly in my visual field and only occured after exercising. Paul I discussed at length with the doctor about options for rabies PEP should the animal show signs of disease. Thus far, it has not shown signs of disease (animal control has not contracted me). Paul Additionally, the doctor said that in 40 years they ve only had 1 or 2 cases of rabies in dogs (and cats as well) in the state of Arizona. Paul Even before the cat bite, though, I ve noticed the occasional sparkles on the extremes of my visual field whenever I turn my head too fast in either direction. Is this normal? Paul I went back to the hospital again this early morning and they did blood work, including two cultures. The blood work didn t show anything unusual, although the cultures may take a couple of days to process. In the meantime, I still feel like I ve been run over by a mack truck (e.g. I feel weak and flu-like). The only thing I can think of is that we have a lot of mosquitos flying around in our backyard and some of them make it into the house and even land on my computer screen! Some have even landed on my hands! Yuck! I m in Arizona so it probably isn t anything mosquito related -- even if we have mosquitos I m not certain that the West Nile Virus or other known pathogens make it into to this state by way of mosquitos. Oh, my BP was 145/87 at the latest check. I was calm when the nurse took the BP. I m 29 and have no history of high blood pressue, although my mom certainly does (not to mention mitral valve prolapse syndrome). Paul
