Is Transesophageal Echocardiogram Advisable When Suffering From High BP?

I am 83 yr. old female. Recently had echo cardiagram - and tech who performed procedure, noted everything looked fine. A few days later, my physician called and said the cardiologist found a questionable area which could be an aneurism, and that cardiologist wants to perform a transesophageal echo cardiagram. I do have high blood pressure - for which I am taking medicine. But, I do not have any dizziness, shortness of breath, of chest pain or discomfort. Reluctant to undergo TEE. Should I? Dot

Hello there Mam. TEE is a safe procedure and there is no contraindication in the history you have provided. Its quite sensitive to detect aneurysm and if the doctor has suspected that its better you go on and do it. Take care.
