Is Traveling To Higher Altitude Safe While On Treatment For Atrial Fibrillation?
I have been in A fib for many years and this is successfully controlled with Warfarin. I am also on other drugs for this - ramipril and bisoprolol. We are planning several trips which will take us to a higher altitude, between 3000 and 3500m. This will not necessarily involve great exercise other than sightseeing. However we are concerned whether there will be significant risks, for example increased clotting.
BUT YOUR SUFFERING FROM AF WHICH IS A SUPRAVENTRICULAR ARRYTHMIA AND I SUGGEST YOU TO AVOID HIGH ALTITUDE TRAVELLING AS FAR AS POSSIBLE EVEN IF YOUR AF IS UNDER CONTROL
AS OBSERVATION HAVE SHOWN SUDDEN DEATH IN PATIENTS OF ARRYTHMIA AT HIGH ALTITUDE
CLOT FORMATION CAN ALSO OCCUR AT HIGH ALTITUDE.. SO AVOID IT AS FAR AS POSSIBLE
HOPE I HAVE ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION.. YOU CAN MESSAGE ME FOR ANY FURTHER CONCERNS
