Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have shingles. I have been on Acyclovir since yesterday. I am supposed to be going on a train trip tomorrow. I feel like I would not enjoy it at all. I have a window of about 4 days I could push it back. Should I do that or cancel altogether. In other words, how long before I start feeling human again?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. It appears from your description that you are still in the acute stage of disease. It would take about 3 to 5 days for medications to act and for you to feel better. Slowly, by about 10 to 14 days, you should recover well and be back to normal. Hence, it would be better for you to cancel the trip and take rest with intake of good amount of proteins in the diet, so that it will help to recover quickly. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
