Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Vaginal Discharge Post Intake Of Canesten Pessary Normal During Pregnancy?
Hi I am 19 weeks pregnant and have been prescribed a 3 day course of canasten pessary for treatment of internal thrush I used the first one last night and this afternoon I had most of the dissolved tablet come out on to my panty liner is this normal and should I continue the course as directed? I have been advised to use the pessary without the help of the applicator but just worried it s not actually working.
It is normal to get increased vaginal discharge after using a canesten pessary. This is because this medication will clear up the infection but this will be accompanied with increased vaginal discharge.
This is why we do usually advise our patients to use daily sanitary napkins until the end of treatment. Do use the pessary as advised by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
