Is Working Out For 35-45 Minutes On Treadmill And Elliptical Machine Safe?

I need to know if I can do at least 35 to 45 minutes a day on the eliptical machine, tread mill and when summer arrives I will be doing a lot of biking so that I can participate in the MS Bike ride in August which I did the last two years and sometimes I go from 14 miles a day to 30

Hi,

The duration of tread milling depends on your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). If u have a low BMR prolonged exercise is advisable but if you have high BMR prolonged exercise is not that necessary. Low BMR means tendency to gain weight more. Secondly pattern of your running is also more important. A steady pattern of running after a point of time just increases your stamina but an alternate running and walking pattern helps you burn your fat cells more. so be clear in your purpose and then start your work out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Eshan Awasthi
