Is X-ray Radiation Harmful? Is There Alternative X-ray
It's the age old plain or plane x-ray. I appreciate the Merck manual states plain is the best one to use however I thought it might be more definitive to use plain x-ray FILMS when using the word plain and plane x-rays when using the request for an x-ray (not MRI, or scans). I really do believe this anomaly should be settled on a professional level as all medical writing/reporting is a legal document - wouldn't fancy an argument with a litigation lawyer over the meaning or use of this word - it could mean chaos in court. I am from Australia - be nice if England/USA/Canada/and other English medical reporting could ge this right once and for all.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
I am Dr Shailja P Wahal from India.
The requisition for an X-ray is plain X-ray.
This implies that the X-ray is simple without any contrast.
The danger of exposure to X-ray films is minimal.
An exposure once in awhile for some disease process is harmless.
Thanks nd take care.
