Itchiness, Black Stool, Decreased Urination. Dengue Tests Done. Should Stool, Blood Test Be Done?
Hello, My friends daughter was itching which was thought to be an allergy . Anti-allergy medication was prescribed but she vomited each time it was administered. Now she is told she may have Dengu but the initial tests have been negative. She is passing black stools and not urinating sufficiently (compared to the amount of water and electrolytes she is drinking). Her fever is down. She lives in India. Would it help to have alkasol (increases urination )? Should she have the stool tested for blood? Is it possible to confirm Dengu on retesting now that the fever is down? If yes, which type of test should be requested? Many thanks, Sagarika
Hi sagarika, she needs to get done investigations as soon as possible.. To rule out dengue, urinary track infection with stone, piles, GI bleed, anaemia,.. And many more... blood tests she will require are.. Haemogram, widal, M.P., dengue IgG IgM, ESR, AEC, urine routine, stool routine with occult blood... These are basic tests required... Consult your doctor for further help... Take care
