Jumped Into Water, Left Foot Bruised Around Heel, Pain, Limping. Treatment?

Hello. I jumped into shallow water feet first and landed on the ground. This was 6 days ago. I must have landed on a rock with my left foot because it bruised around the heel very soon after the fall. The bruising dissapeared after 3 days but the pain persists. I can walk, but with a limp. Will this injury heal well or should I go see a doctor?

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

I would suggest you have a paracetamol /brufen after food for pain relief. Also apply hot fomentation on the site of pain. While sleeping/lying down keep your left foot elevated on a couple of pillows.

If after 2-3 days, the pain still persists, Please visit an orthopaedician and get an X ray of the left foot to rule out a fracture.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
