Kidney Problem With Calcium And Phosphorus In Blood
my father is suffering from Kidney damage.. he is having excess of Ca & Ph in blood .. can a dialysis be avoided using medication? He was having hemoglobin at 6 when admitted to hospital but after giving Espogen , Iron IVs, it has improved.. but the BUN and Calcium and Phosphorus is not being cleared... His legs are paining a lot and its difficult for him to walk..
Welcome to Healthcare Magic
Since he has kidney failure he is having electrolyte disturbance, also haemoglobin is low because kidney cannot produce the blood forming hormone as well. He needs Dialysis otherwise the electrolyte imbalance will cause lot of acid base distrurbancee and worsening condition. No medicine can help at this stage. He needs Dialysis.
hello, welcome to HCM. You need to specifically tell the values of blood Ca and Phosphorus. If blood creatinine and BUN are high your father will definitely need dialysis. If the levels are marginally high they can be brought down to normal levels with help of medicines. But overall blood levels are the deciding factors. it would be advisable to undergo dialysis if the levels are high as they can be toxic for health if retained for long time in excess. Wish your father good health.
Although you haven't mentioned the values of urea and creatinine. His low Hb, high Phosphorous and pain in legs suggest significant uraemia. He is very likely to benefit with good and adequate dialysis ( ideally thrice weekly). Longer dialysis is delayed, lesser the likelihood of him benefiting, and more the complications. Let your treating nephrologist decide. All the best.
Hi !
Healthy kidneys clean your blood by removing excess fluid, minerals, and wastes. When the kidneys cannot perform their work properly or are damaged, toxins remain in blood only and cannot be removed. His symptoms may be due to that. So,by Dialysis ,work of kidneys is done.
I hope u understood.
Kindly folle advice of your nephrologist.
