Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Knee Injured, Swelling After Falling Hard From Car. Chances Of Broken Bones?
About 2 days ago I fell out of a moving car onto my knee (it was going bout 5-7mph) I scraped a big portion off the top inside part of my knee and it s swollen about two times the size of the inside top part of my other knee. I also scraped the back outside part of my knee (where it bends in the back) and it swollen there too. Is something broke? I fell pretty hard and it hurts.
It appears that there may be injuries to soft tissue around knee joint (tissues/muscles etc) or injury to ligaments in the joint or fluid collection in your joint. It is difficult to point to exact cause without clinical examination and x-rays.
You have not mentioned about your age? Whether you suffer from any medical problems or take any regular medications?
I would advise:
1. To take regular painkillers like paracetamol
2. Take rest
3. You can try lukewarm water massage to the affected knee joint
4. Please see an Orthopedic Doctor at the earliest feasible day and time.
Wishing you speedy recovery
Thanks
Dr Tejas Shah
