Lab Report Showed Nti-HBs Reactive Patient Count -15.55 Cut Off Value -10.00. Meaning?
Hello ma'am/sir! I'm from Philippines and i would look you to interpret this lab result, it was a text from a friend and i can't understand it. Please help! Anti HAV 1gM non reactive patient count -0.55 cut off value- less than 0.80, Anti HAV IgG reactive patient count -12.24 cut-off value -1.00, HBsAg non reactive patient count -0.31 cut off value -1.00, Anti-HBs reactive patient count -15.55 cut off value -10.00
First of all, I would like to give some preliminary information so that my explanation is totally clear to you. There are several types of viral hepatitis and they are named as Hepatitis A, B, C etc. Some of them have acute form only (a person gets acutely ill, then gets cured), others have chronic form only (a person contracts the disease insidiously and remains sick for life), the third ones can start acutely and then transform into chronic form. Chronic forms of the disease can get activated from time to time and then go back to non-active stage (non-active stage is called remission). Now, let's get back to the lab results.
The lab results you provided suggest that:
1. The person HAD acute Hepatitis A and is completely cured.
2. The person HAD acute Hepatitis B and is completely cured OR The person HAS chronic Hepatitis B in remission. In order to know whether this is cured acute Hepatitis B or chronic Hepatitis B in remission, he needs additional lab tests.
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
