Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 30 year old woman. 5 3 130 lbs. I fell on the stairs while carrying my 21 lbs. daughter. I seem to have landed directly on my back on the left side on the edge of the step. I was carrying my daughter on that side as well, so she landed on my front left side. I have horrible pain on that left pelvis/hip area. I ve been icing it for 30 minutes, and it still is painful and I ve been starting to get muscle spasms that come around to the front of my thigh. I can walk (although slowly and painfully). Is this worth a hospital visit, or is home care the way to go?
if 48 hours of lying down and total rest is not giving you 50 % relief in symptoms or of they persist beyond 72 hours and seems to increase as days or hours pass please go to hospital and get an x ray done to rule out fractures .
in acute situations dont aggravate trouble by forcing yourself to walk.
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
From your description, a bony injury is a likely possibility. Only rest and icing are not likely to be sufficient for you. You need to attend an ER to rule out the bony injury after X-ray and MRI scan of the area.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
