Large Purple Bumps On Tongue, Kindly Suggest Remedy
My son woke up the other morning and he had swelling around his top front tooth. Since then it s moved all the way around from front left side to the back left side and the roof of his mouth. It s all swollen at the outer part of his gums also, with a reddish purple color to it. After that a purple bump came up on the top center of his tongue. I took him to Dr. and got an antibiotic yesterday, then today he showed me his mouth and there s decent size purple bumps all around his tongue. It s very painful for him and he s having a hard time eating . I m clueless and have never seen anything like it. It s really freaking me out. He s only 17 and this is something I ve never even run acrossed. Any ideas ?
thanks for choosing health care magic. There are couple of possibilities like glossitis(means mouth ulcer infected),fungal infection or some simple cyst. But i do not think you should worry.Take medicines as advised by your doctor.Give him more of liquids to drink, avoid spicy foods and get in contact with your doctor.I think he should be fine.
hi, from your description it seems that the bumps are restricted to the left side of your son's oral cavity. He may be having herpes zoster? Has he suffered from chicken pox previously? I suggest you to tak him to a dermatologist or an ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment
Hi, it may be a viral infection. There are various causes of mouth lesions like Herpes, Canker sores, Pemphigus, Crohn's disease, Behcet's syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome, Hand foot and mouth disease etc. Please consult an oral pathologist or oral surgeon. It is very difficult to comment on the pathology without actual examination. Please ask you son to use chlohex mouthwash and Betadine gargles alternatively. You need to give him painkillers for temporary relief. Application of mucopain ointment 3-4 times a day on the ulcers may also be helpful. Take care!
