Left Side Weakness, Numbness. MRI Done. Suggestions?
I had an MRI a few weeks ago the results state multiple small nonenhancing less than 6 mm foci of FLAIR increased intensity within the cerebral white matter bilaterally, predominantly peripheral in distribution and within the frontal lobe. Other symptoms include left side weakness and numbness at times. No history of high blood pressure or heart disease. I have noticed I have a lot of cognitive impairment and pain all threw my body.
From your description of MRI scan brain findings, the small FLAIR hyperintensities might be due to chronic microvascular ischemic changes.
These are seen in patients with hypertension and due to advancing age. As you have no hypertension or heart disease, I guess it is more likely due to your age. The left sided numbness and weakness must be evaluated in complete by doing neurological examination.
Your doctor may decide to put you on certain brain protective medications if necessary.
Hope this helps.
