Light Pink Colored Spots In Skin, Don T Itch Or Hurt. Biopsy Done, Needed To Do Ihc Analysis. Any Ideas?
hi I am worried ecause i went to my dermatologist because i have alot of light pink almost skin colored spots growing around my belly, back, chest and arm. they don't ich or hurt but they been coming out for over a year now. my doc did a biopsy of one and now called to tell me that she needed to do a ihc analysis on the tissue sample. what does that mean?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic IHC means immunohistochemistry. In some cases where a pathologist sees some abnormal cells, he wants to confirm the type of cell to exactly confirm the diagnosis.
So please do not take stress and we can patiently wait for the report. IHC can be done on the same biopsy taken, but you need to make some additional payment for the special staining that they do.

Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic IHC means immunohistochemistry. In some cases where a pathologist sees some abnormal cells, he wants to confirm the type of cell to exactly confirm the diagnosis. This is commonly done if you are suspecting malignancy. But do not worry even to diagnose benign conditions like lymphomatoid papulosis or pityriasis lichenoides chronica IHC is done. So please do not take stress and we can patiently wait for the report. IHC can be done on the same biopsy taken, but you need to make some additional payment for the special staining that they do.
