Lipid Profile Showing High Cholesterol Levels. Prescribed With Tonact, Finate And Ecosprin. What All Food To Be Avoided?
Sir, I have been suffering from high cholesterol problem. I tested my lipid profile on 04.02.13 and the results are as follows : SERUM CHOLESTEROL - 270 mg/100ml , HDL CHOLESTEROL - 39 mg/100ml , LDL CHOLESTEROL - 163 mg/100ml , VLDL CHOLESTEROL - 68 mg/100ml , SERUM TRIGLYCERIDE - 351 mg/100ml . My hight is 5.5 and weight was 66.7 but now it is 64 kg. My doctor has prescribed me TONACT 20 , FINATE 160 , ECOSPRIN 75 once daly before bed time. I am a school teacher. I did not do any exercise earlier but now I am having morning walk and running daily. I love to eat various kinds of food but now I am completely puzzled, what to eat and what to avoid. I shall be highly obliged to you if kindly suggest me what should I have in my daily diet and what to shun. Please also tell me whether I am on proper medication or not.

Your cholesterol and lipids are quite high.
Avoid more fat and carbohydrates.
Avoid taking more sweets, fried and junk food.
Avoid Ghee, butter, cheese, panier, puddings,
You can take high protein diet like pulses, cereals,dry fruits,
Take fresh fruits and juices.
Avoid cold drinks, chocolates, ice creams and more tea-coffee.
But most important is daily exercise.
Continue with medicines, prescribed by your doctor.

Go for walking, swimming for about 30-40 minutes daily for 5 days in a week.

Junk foods like pizzas,burgers,noodles etc
Avoid colas and sweet drinks.
Avoid sweets.
To do ...
Ear more of fresh fruits and green vegetables.
Drink plenty of water.
Regular aerobic exercise or at least 45 minutes a day.
Be in your required range of BMI
Quit smoking and moderate your alcohol.
