Lips Keep Cracking In The Corners. Had Latissimus Dorsi Muscle Reconstruction Surgery. Suggestion?
I'm wondering why my lips keep cracking in the two corners over and over. I get them to heal and then they crack again. I recently (8weeks ago) had my fifth surgery due to cancer... a Latissimus Dorsi Muscle reconstruction surgery. My doctor (LOVE him) used Exparel this time although I'm NOT sure that has anything to do with it?... I need to get some relief that is permanent!
Hello, The most common causes for cracking of lips at mouth corners are collection of fluid and resulting fungal infection. This can also happen if a person has braces or has ill fitting dentures. Nutritional deficiencies like iron, zinc and B complex vitamins can also cause this but this is found in some occasions only. Treatment involves... Keeping your corners of mouth dry. Applying an antifungal cream followed two hours later with 1%hydrocortisone cream. Take B complex vitamins . Take iron and zinc if these are deficient. EXPAREL has nothing to do with it. Thanks
