Little Blood Found In Qtip While Cleaning Ears. What To Do?

Good morning doctor i have a question this morning i gave my son a shower after i put his clothes on i clean his ears with qtips after i cleaned the right ear i do the other side which his left ear he scream and cry i think i went to far on his left ear and when i removed the qtips there is a little blood ..i got scared what should i do?pls help

Hi

Thanks for posting the query

I presume you could have either damaged the supple skin of the external auditory canal or the eardrum. If possible, consult your doctor at the earliest. Avoid any water into the ear, till the perforation of the eardrum is ruled out.

In future avoid using the qtips. It is a blind procedure, hence the chances of damaging the ear is more.

thank you.may be you done some injury to the middle ear cavity.you need not to do anything now.consult a ENT specialist for proper examination of the ear to asses the severity or any preexisting infection.
