General Surgeon 's  Response
hi and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your query.
First, you cant cure hep b infection. This is permanent infection and you can and should treat its complication and hepatic damage which occurs. HBs is positive wehn u develop antibodies to virus. This is good sign of immune response.Your findings are pretty fine and there is no significant liver damage so just follow haptoprotective diet and do frequent check up. INR can be abnormal beacuse clotting factors are produced in liver. you should test for clotting factor and then treat one which is missing. Wish you good health.

Gastroenterologist Dr. Charles S Narasi's  Response
Hello, jey10june2005,
Thank you for contacting HCM with your quiery.
You are Hepatitis-B antigen positive and your liver
enzymes and protein levels are pretty much normal.
Your prothrombin time is elevated. You are not on any
blood thinners and this could be a laboratory error.
Occasionally ,INR may be mildly elevated if someone
is taking Paracetamol ( Tylenol). This is rare.
If you are deficient in Vitamin-K , this could elevate
your protrombin time.
You have had Hepatitis now for about two months.
I would like you to have your Hepatitis-B antibodies tested.
You can also check Hepatitis B virus DNA levels.
Essentially , you want to make sure that your hepatitis is
not becoming Chronic . If the enzyme levels stay abnormal
even after 6 months , then it is chronic hepatitis. At this stage
after further workup , a person may need treatment with special
drugs.
Hope this helps you.
I wish you well.
