Losing Hair. Gained Weight. Irregular Period. Normal Thyroid Results. What Can Be Done?
I'm 18 years old. I have had the problem of irregular periods since the beginning of my menstrual cycle (At 14 years of age ). The delay would not be more than 2-3 days. But since a few months, they have became really irregular. The cycle starts after 35 days or more. And I have severe dysmenorrhoea along with it. My Thyroid tests are normal. But I have started losing my hair. I have also gained weight without any change in my food habits. Please give advice as to what I should do.
There are several reason of irregular delayed period like PCOD or ovarian cyst (most common in this context), hormonal imbalance, over wt, stress/ anxiety, irregular diet pattern, psychological factors etc.
Here, you need to consult with gynecologist for relevant investigation like pelvic USG scan, complete hormone assay, blood testosterone & prolactin level, blood sugar etc. Take suggestive measures & hormonal medication accordingly.
Take low carbohydrate diet, avoid fast food or empty calorie, do moderate to heavy exercise regularly to control body wt, avoid stress & take sound sleep.
Be well & stay healthy.
