Lost A Left Tube During Ectopic Pregnancy, Pregnant Again. HCG Levels High, Sharp Pains. What Could It Be ?

Just had an ectopic pregnancy. Lost left tube. A couple months later, home preg. confirms pregnancy. Dr. did a blood test and said my HCG level was 201 and according to my last period May 21 - with the ectopic surgery this past
March. He suspects me unknown weeks. This week the HCG level is 520, but said that it was to soon to do u/s. AM I pregnant or is this a possible ectopic. Have sharp pains, but no blood. back hurt. What should my HCG level be? In the thousands? 1200?

Hi,
The serum hCG level should reach at least 1000 mIU/ml by the 6th week of pregnancy and there would be a doubling up of levels on alternate days. As per your dates, you should be 5-6 weeks pregnant now and the hormone levels are by no means excessive. You can have a trans-vaginal sonogram which can be conclusive and can exclude an ectopic pregnancy mostly. Hope you find this information useful. Good luck.
