Low Fever, Lump At The Base Of Skull And Back Of Neck. Treatment?
My 1 year old son woke up with a low fever this morning & it's hovered around 100.00f all day...about an hour ago I noticed a golf ball sized lump at the base of his skull & another smaller one - about the size of a bean - below it on the back of his neck. What could it be? Do I need to contact the on-call pediatrician or take any other action?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. It seems the child is suffering from a viral fever. The swellings could be due to enlarged lymph nodes because of infection. For fever you can give Tylenol in prescribed dose every 6th hourly depending on the presence of fever. You can consult the pediatrician for clinical examination and management. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
