Lower Arm Pain Radiating Up Shoulder. Had Pacemaker Implanted And Angiogram. Calling ER?
My mother just had a pacemaker implanted, as well as an angiogram, It has been about a week. Now she is presenting with pain in her lower right arm, from the elbow down, mostly - it is now radiating up into her shoulder and down into her right thumb . She says it feels like tendonitis ...but she is in major pain. Should we be calling the ER?
Hi there, Thanks for writing. I am a qualified and certified cardiologist . Pacemaker implantation is usually done below the collar bone and it does not produce any of the symptoms, though it can produce frozen shoulder. On in your case the implant has been in axillary region then neuro vascular (Nerves and blood Vessels) can be compressed if there is swelling because of hematoma. You are right in case of acute problem of complex nature a visit to ER is much better choice.
