Lower Back Pain. Pain Comes After Long Sitting Or Walking. Inflammation?

I've been having lower back pain when I walk for about more than 10 minutes. If I sit down, it alleviates the pain, it disappears, but as soon as I start walking again, after about five minutes, the pain comes back. I usually walk a bit, rest, and then continue walking. I just walked a 2.2 mile trail and I had to rest about 4-5 times. The pain goes away pretty instantly when I sit down, but comes back quickly? Is it inflammation?

From description it seems you might be suffering Mechanical back pain.
It is a common medical problem.Mechanical back pain implies the source of pain is in the spine and/or its supporting structure. The surrounding muscles and ligaments may develop reactive spasm and pain.

dear customer,

The pian on walking may be due to the PVD and you should have the relevant investigations done like venous doppler , and arterial doppler to know the blockage of blood vessels if any which may be associated with such symptoms described by you.

The surgery may be required in some cases if there is thrombus or emboli formation. The cigarette somking should be stopped if you are doing that as it may aggravate the condition.

The other causes like slipped, disc herniation, etc should be ruled out as well.

Thank you

Hi,
does this pain go till your calf region or it just stays near the lower back area?
Also do you feel it is easier to climb steps than to walk on a straight path?
If all these symptoms are true then you have Vascular claudication which is a form of PVD as mentioned by Dr. Ramakant. It is basically blockage of blood vessels and hence the pain on activity. I suggest you to see a doctor and have relevant investigations done.

Take care. Get well soon.
