Lump Or Mass Under Shoulder, Movable, Pneumonia, Cough, Tore Intercostal Muscle. Ideas?
I have a quarter sized soft lump/mass just under my left shoulder blade along my rib cage. My doctor thought it may be a lipoma but the ultrasound showed nothing. The lump is soft and very moveable. I had pnuemonia for quite sometime and pulled or tore an intercostal muscle from all of the coughing. It was because I had been icing the area that I found the lump because it was not there before. I don't know what it could be and if it is something I should be very concerned about. Any ideas?
hello, Rib strain is an injury to the muscle or ligament attaches to that rib.It will cause swelling if there is muscle tear and it will take atleast 6 weeks for complete recovery if your recovery rate is good and if you give some rest to it.Keep ice packing every 3-4 times a day to reduce the swelling.Remind that dont keep the ice directly as it may cause forstbite injury keep the ice in a towel and keep it on the area affected. You can do simple exercises to tighten the muscles and if there is pain painkillersmay be needed.Untill it intervenes you or troubles you it is normal and nothing to worry about it.Thank you.
