Lymph Node Under Chin, Appearance As Double Chin. How To Remove It?
I have had a filled lymph node/ cyst on the underneath part of my chin since I was a little child. The doctor told me it was not harmful and if they drain it, the lymph node/cyst would just fill up again. It gives the appearance of a double chin and I was wondering first of all what exactly this is and how can I have surgery to have this removed?
Hi!
welcome to HCM!
The vast majority of cystic lesions in infants and children are congenital or developmental in origin.Swelling under your chin seems to be a congenital submental cyst.Common cystic neck masses in Submental region are Dermoid/epidermoid,Ranula and in Midline/thyroid region are Thyroglossal duct cyst,Colloid and haemorrhagic thyroid cystic nodule
You can get an ultrasound done.Ultrasound also has the unique advantage over other imaging techniques in providing reliable, real-time guidance
for fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC)
Your treatment will depend on exact diagnosis of the lesion,so get the tests done.
hope this helps!Take care!
Is it painful ?observe some fever .go for lab investigation ,sonography .some time it may be due to infection ,again some benign thing .look forhormonal assay also. Thanking you, wishing good health
