MCV And MCH Levels Low. Iron Deficiency Anemia And Hematologist Gave Omeprozale And In For An Infusion. Normal?
My MCV and MCH levels are low. My doctor said that it is probably iron deficiency anemia and sent me to a hematologist. Hematologist seen me and said it is probable due to not absorbing the iron because of being on omeprozale for almost 6 years. Want me to go in for an infusion. He also ran like 13 labs on me is this something routine that a hematologist would do?
I read your query and hematologist is right that iron is not absorbed in your body through natural source of food. I suggest you to take Iron tablets with multivitamins along with Vitamin C to increase absorbtion of iron in blood circulation. You should continue tablet for one month till sufficient iron stored in body thereafter food rich in iron will help to maintain iron resource in body and you will definitely see improvement in hemoglobin.
No need for iron infusion atpresent . Deworm every 6 months to avoid iron loss by parasites. Red meat does contain iron, but it may be healthier to look for a multivitamin that includes iron.
Hope this information is helpful.. Take Care..
