I have a MRI results of my lumbar. There are several statements being made that I cannot understand the meaning of. Findings: The conus terminates at the L1-L2 invertebrate disc space level appearing unremarkable. No cord signal abnormality. The descending nerve root are unremarkable. L5-S1: mild loss of disc herniation. no disc herniation. L4-L5 Mild bulging disc. No disk herniation. L3-L4 There is left posterolateral broad-based disc herniation or protrusion that extends into the left neural fora men, minimally effacing the left ventrolateral the cal sac and abutting and elevating the exiting the L3 nerve root within the neural foramen, and accompanying moderate narrowing of the neural foramen. No sequestered disc fragment. No significant central canal steno-sis. L\2-L\3 Subtle left foraminal small disc/neophyte complex is seen which results in the moderate left foraminal narrowing. The right neutral foramen is patent. No central canal stenosis. L1\L2 No disc herniation, foraminal or canal stenosis. No evidence of bone marrow-replacing lesions. Mild Modic type II changes at L4\L5\L3\L4\L2\L3 and L1-L2 are noted. No pre-or paravertebral soft tissue mass. Impression: 1: Dominate findings at L3-L4 where there is a broad based left foraminal disc herniation or protrusion which results in moderate left foraminal stenosis and abutment of the exiting left L3 nerve root. 2: At L1-L2, a small subtle left foraminal disc/osteophyte complex is seen contributing to mild to moderate left foraminal narrowing...Does this indeed affect my left leg straight thru to my foot and from lower back. Would it affect my neck and middle of my back with pain. I have to walk slow and am in pain with sharp shooting pain that leads from my back right down to my toes. Hips and back side hurts and is tight-muscle. I've done epidurals, p/t, medicine, etc. but now is my back finally at the state for back surgery? If so what kind, how long will it take, how long is recovery time and where at..at home or at hospital? How long before I would feel better? Thanks
