MRI Of Spine Done, Shows Degenerative Disc Disease, Decreased Signal In Bone Marrow. Meaning?
I had a MRI and want to know what the results mean, I am not sure what my doctor tried to say to me. It says Findings: There is narrowing of the intervertebral disc height at the L2-L3 and L4-L5 levels. There is normal body height and alignment. Conus is normal in termination signal. There is diffuse mild decreased homogeneous signal throughout the bone marrow of all the structures. Differential diagnosis with metastatic disease and multiple myoma. Please correlate clinically. T12-L1: This level appears unremarkable. L1-L2: This level appears unremarkable. L2-L3 Mild broad based disc bulge. Facets at this level appear unremarkable. Mild to moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. Overall minimal central canal stenosis . L3-L4 minimal facet degenerative change. Mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. No significant degenerative disc bulging or central canal stenosis. L4-L5: Mild facet degenerative changes at this level. Moderate to significant broad-based central disc protrusion. This disc bulge appears to contact and questionably efface the existing right L4 nerve root . Please correlate clinically. Moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. Overall central canal stenosis with maximum Ap diameter of the central canal measuring 7 mm. L5-S1 Mild to moderate facet degnerative changes. Mild broad-based disc bulge. Moderate bilaterial neural foraminal narrowing. Overall mild central canal stenosis.. Impression: Mri lumbar spine . 1. Dengenerative disc disease and facet degenerative change of the lumbar spine as described above. Please see the above report for findings. 2. Mild diffuse homegeneous decreased signal throughout the bone marrow. Differential diagnosis is somewhat broad and includes anemias as well as diffuse infiltration with matastatic disease and multiple myoma. Please correlate clinically.
Dear friend, welcome to HCM.
it says that there is degeneratiuon in the vertebrae (wear and tear- mostly with age , sometime due to disease.)
hoiw old are you?
what other problems do you face?
decrease marriow signal may mean many things. many diagnoses.
will need a good physical exam and other lab tests to narrow down the spectrum of causes.
your local physician and the spine specialist will be able to test you and advise yoy accordingly.
or if you coulsd post other test results, I may help.
pl. post great details or better see your physician.
take care and pl. keep me posted on the progress.
