MRI Results Showed Mucosal Thickening In Bilateral Maxillary Sinuses, Mild Degenerative Disk Disease. Analysis And Meaning?
On my MRI results it says there is mucosal thickening in bilateral maxillary sinuses with a polyploid retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus....also DISK SPACES: there is mild degenerative disk disease at C3/4, C4/5, C5/6 and C6/7. Then says C4-5: Posterior disk osteophyte complex and right uncovertebral hyperostosis. If you can please translate this for me so I understand what it means, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi. MRi showing mucosal thickening suggests an allergic nasal problem for which you may be having some symptoms like sneezing or can very well be without any noticeable symptoms. Polypoid retention cyst is just like the fluid could not have been reabsorbed by the body. C 3/4 and so on indicate the site of the disc between the vertebrae of cervical / neck spine. On MRI it is seen as a degeneration means the normal fluid and architecture has lessened- not a serious problem per say. Osteophyte indicates body's response to add more support as this part is feeling to have weakness. This is an automatic body response over a long period of time. Heperstosis is a bit of overgrowth of that part, again as a positive reaction. I hope this answer helps you.
