What Does Calcification Of Basal Ganglia Means?

I am 31 year old Female. Recently I had experienced slight head ache in the left side and also in the left back side of the head. I have consulted a doctor and as per his advise I had gone for a CT scan. In the CT scan report mentioned CALCIFICATION noted bilateral basal ganglia. and Polypoidal mucosal thickening seen in the right maxillary sinus. Please let me know more about that. Are they serious condition? Please suggest me treatments.

Hello,

Calcification of basal ganglia is an incidental finding and generally does not cause much problems. If you don’t have any signs like headache or seizure, no treatment is required. and close followup is only required. Consult a neurologist for expert opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
