Hello and welcome.
Thank you for your query.
Anal fistula is a common complication of an
abscess. It commonly occurs due to incomplete evacuation or treatment of an abscess.
An anal fistula can be effectively removed by a day care (morning surgery, evening discharge) surgery technique performed in almost all major hospitals, called Anal Fistula excision.
It is a simple and effective procedure, and if done by an experienced surgeon, it can be completely cured, without any recurrences. The surgeon can also incise and drain the residual abscess cavity at the same time. Hardly takes any extra time.
The best option would be to
consult a general surgeon, who deals with such cases on a regular basis.
This is followed up by adding a course of antibiotics and mild pain killers. You might have to visit your surgeon after getting discharged a few times, for a change in dressing, and for the surgeon the view to healing process.
This is a simple and small procedure. You need not worry at all.
Hope this has helped you. You can always write back to us for any further clarifications.
Wishing you good health.
