MRI Showed Signal Abnormality, Mild Expansion, Mild Effacement And Disc Protrusion. Meaning?

I have an MRI with these results: Signal abnormality and mild expansion of L2 vertebra. L2-3 broad disc protrusion with thecal sac effacement, central canal and lateral recess stenosis L3-4 central and left disc protrusion effacing the thecal sac and contributing to the left lateral recess stenosis. Mild effacement of the left L4 root withing the left lateral recess. Segmentation abnormality. Can you tell me what this says in plain english?

Q Signal abnormality and mild expansion of L2 vertebra-
A There is some abnormality in L2 vertebral body causing abnormal appearance of marrow, the vertebral body is also expanding because of this.- The exact signal changes mentioned in report are important to further comment on this.

There are intervertebral discs to support the vertebral bodies.
when there is abnormal stress on discs the disc material come out on back side
where there are nerve fibres in fluid containing recesses
this disc material presses it and there is resultant pain / muscle spasm / loss of function depending upon severity.

With the information provided in your case i believe there is maximum problem at L4 root level.
