MRI Shows Herniation Of Intervertebral Disc, Spinal Stenosis. Explain
What does my MRI mean? The impression: broad based posterior central herniation of c6-7 intervertebral disc resulting in spinal stenosis , encroachment on bilateral c6-7 lateral recesses and possible nerve root impingement also mild posterior central protrusion of c5-6 intervertebral disc, Narrowing of c6-7 intervertebral disc space with mild encroachment on bilateral c6-7 lateral recesses by marginal osteophytes? Can you please explain to me in patient terms? Thanks
Dear friend, welcome to HCM.
Your MRI shows a reduced disc space and little pressure on sides by bony projections (osteophytes) where nerves exit the spine at the level of 6 and 7 th vertebra of the neck.
Also it shows a slipped disc with resultant narrowing of the spinal canal which contains the spinal cord at 6th and 7th vertebrae. The side-pressure on a nerve root is seen due to the slipped disc.
A small slipped disc at 5th and 6th level is present.
I think that was simple to understand?
Take care and ortho advice.
