Meaning Of Potential Epilieptiform Activity In EEG Test?
Hi, My Sister is physically challenged (Legs) cause cerebaral palsy. She is 32 yrs nw and she is 3 months preganant. Earlier in her child hood she got fever fit twice. We consulted gyncologist to know whether will she get fit again during her delivery and the Gyno doctor suggested us to consult a Neuro technician. As per the advise of Neurologist she undergone a EEG test however the test impression shows THE DIGITAL EEG IS ABNORMAL RECORD, SHOWING POTENTIAL EPILEPTIFORM ACTIVITY Could you please advise what the above result means? Is this cause of any abnormality?
A potential epileptiform appearance of brainwaves on EEG mean that there are some abnormal electrical discharges occurring in certain areas of the brain which can cause seizure like activity in the patient. This finding needs to be discussed in detail with a neurologist and further brain imaging may be required.
