Medical History Of Hashimoto S Thyroiditis, Gained Weight. Done Partial Hysterectomy. Why Am I Unable To Lose Weight?
Age 33, height 5'2", weight 187, medical history - hashimotos thyroidism and partial hysterectomy...both 3 years ago. Started out at 134 at the time of diagnoses and gained 50lbs within 6 months of diagnosis and surgery. I've been working out for almost 1 year with a personal trainer doing intense strength training and cardio but my weight will not change at all. What is the link between hashimotos and a partial hysterectomy that one cannot lose weight?
Hi, you are having hashimoto's thyroiditis which may lead to hypothyroidism which in turn causes weight gain. you can take levothyroxine and triiodothyronine supplements after getting completely evaluated by your endocrinologist. These will improve you metabolism, which usually slows down in hashimoto's. Consult your endocrinologist on the dose to be taken, get thyroid function tests done to know the level of your thyroid hormones. Partial hystrectomy does not cause weight gain. continue exercising and taking thyroid supplements as per your endocrinologists advice. Avoid goitrogens like cabbage, brocoli and cauliflower. Regards.
