Memory Loss, Anger, Depression, Shortness Of Breath. MRI Done. What Does The Findings Mean?
I have been having loss of memory, anger, depression, heart & chest pressure, shortness of breath,at times I can go with out sleep, or just 2-3 hours sleep, other times just can not hold my eyes open long enogh to get laid down. I was in a car accident a month ago and the MRI says "Scattered foci of increased T2 and FLAIR signal intensity in bilateral frontal lobe periventricular AND SUBCORTICAL WHITE MATTER probably related to small vessel ischemic change. " what does that mean.?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Prateek's Response
The above symptoms may be due to damage to the brain due to lack of blood supply as a result of clot in the brain (ischemic changes as shown in the MRI). Kindly visit a neurologist after getting ECG test done. He would prescribe aspirin and other clot preventing medicine. Heart disease also need to be ruled out.
Ischemic brain injury recovers on its own for some time with proper physiotherapy and medicine however complete recovery is not achieved (residual neurological deficit) stem cell therapy has shown encouraging results in restoring residual neurological deficit however it is under research at present
