Memory Loss At Age Of 80. Is It Common At The Age Of 80?
hi i was just curious my grandmother is around 80 now and she has been experiencing what i think are probably mild delusions and a bit of short term memory loss is there any thing i should be worried about or are these normal for a woman that age normally i wouldnt think twice about it but she is worrying me more and more with the amount she is falling
Hello and thanks for the query
Memory loss is quite common at this age (depends on person to person) due to cerebral atrophy so not to worry about it. Cerebral atrophy is a process of loss of tissue and loss of cells resulting in loss of memory. But if you think she has delusions than you should consult your psychiatrist and take advise from him. If she has no problem like fear from someone, talking alone etc than this should be normal but can create problem in future.
So in my opinion consult your doctor and follow the advises.
Best Wishes
