Met Accident, Tibia Injury, Got Surgery, Swelling, Pain. How To Get Rid Off It?

Well, Thank You Dr. Herrick. I do have a question, you see about three months ago I had a motorcycle accident and ended up with broken and pushed down tibia injury. I got a surgery and a plate with 5 or 6 screws. I am self employed and I have no choice but to go back to work and I am standing or seating about 15 - 16 hours a day. I have lot of swelling and pain by the evening, but like I mentioned I have no choice and got to work. Now, my question is; what is good for me to get rid of the swelling? I am currently taking Ibuprofen 600 mg 1-2 times a day, and at night time naproxen .

Hello,

The swelling is due to weight bearing.
If you adopt little changes you can over come come this problem.
Don't stand for more than 20 minutes at a time.
Sit for 5 to 10 minutes and keep your foot elevated.
alter the position and weight to both legs from time to time.
When pain became intolerable immediately sit.
Do physiotherapy under supervision to strengthen the muscles.
