Minimal Left Pleural Effusion. What Does It Mean ?

Hi, I am a female of 26yrs age. For the past one month or so, I have been getting feverish (100 C) almost every third or fourth day. There is a general feeling of fatigue too. I got my general body checkup done along with Ultrasound test a week back. The report mentions that everything is normal but at the end, these lines are written - Note made of minimal left pleural effusion .Multiple small well defined oval hypoechoic lymph nodes measuring about 7-13mm in short axis diameter are seen in the periportal region. Could you pl explain what does it mean and whether I should get any treatments regarding the same? Any suggestions pertaining to lifestyle habits or diet?

Hi,
Left Pleural Effusion means there is fluid collection in the left side of chest, which is commonly seen in case of tuberculosis, but may occur due to a variety of other causes. It may even be necessary to draw that fluid out with a syringe and send it for further tests to determine the cause of effusion. Best is to consult a chest physician.

Hello and welcome to healthcare forum.
As per history and u.s.g. Findings first diagnosis for your condition would be tuberculosis. You require ultrasonography guided aspiration of this pleural fluid. Then this fluid to be sent to laboratory for routine and microscopic examination plus culture and sensitivity test.
The result of these tests will exactly diagnosis the cause of this effusion and also guide about treatment.
Best of luck.
