Miscarried Due To Umbilical Cord Separation From Placenta. What Caused This ?
I miscarried in my 22nd or 3rd week and was told that the unbillacord separated form the placenta. What caused this? It's been 48 yrs ago and it still haunts me. Can you help? No seems to know? Research has be hard, I can only come up with Placerita Praevia, was that possible? I don't think I fit the sysmstoms of it. VAAAA
Hello thanks for your query. Probably what happened was Abruptio Placenta. This means that the placenta prematurely separated from the uterine wall . Symptoms include hardened painful uterus, bleeding, and death of the fetus. Another condition is avulsion of the umbilical cord in which the cord gets separated from the placenta before delivery of the placenta, leading to torrential bleeding.
