Hi and thanks for the query,

It shall be important actually getting a good idea about the duration of this pain. Is it the first time you are experiencing it or you have experienced the pain before. Other associated symptoms like fever, weight loss, tiredness and joint pain in other joints should be noted.
If none of these symptoms are present, it is most likely that this should be a mechanical pain. A clinical review of the limbs for swelling or any specific areas of tenderness should be considered. Blood tests for markers of inflammation, Systemic diseases and X rays could be important for an initial evaluation. Suggest you consult your primary care physician. Thanks and kind regards.

Hello,
Thanks for writing to us,

knee ligaments or meniscus when torn during sports can lead to internal derengement of knee .knee instability is common feature
You may need some investigation like Xray knee and MRI knee.

Till time take rest, ice fomentation to continue, take analgesic.
Knee support like knee cap will be helpful, physiotherapy like USG and TENS will help.
Also do investigate for vit D levels in blood.

I hope that I have answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further. Take care
