Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 3.5 year old daughter gags or vomits after her dental cleanings. The first cleaning at age 3 it was in the car about ten minutes after appointment. It was more of like a "spit up". One retch with just water. She hadn't quite had the hang of spitting yet so we figured she just swallowed too much water and toothpaste and/or flouride. She was fine the rest of the day. Today was her second cleaning and she did much better with spitting. We had notified the office of what happened last time so they were careful with her. About ten minutes down the road she complained of needing a drink and her mouth bothering her. This time there was no retch at all but she appeared to have "spit up" saliva. Is she just super sensitive to the cleaning or do we need to be careful with the flouride? Just worried that this isn't normal or that she will develop a fear of dentist if she gets sick after every appt.
